The clothes dryer in your home may seem like a secondary appliance, next only to the washing machine in popularity. Without proper maintenance, however, it could catapult to the headline by becoming the cause of property damage.
More than 15,000 dryer fires occur every year, according to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), equivalent to about $35 million in losses. Data from the USFA showed that 34% of such fires are caused by failure to clean the appliance, while 80% are sparked by clogged dryer vents. This underscores the need to conduct routine cleaning of your dryer vents.
