Atlanta Water Damage Expert Looks Back on the 2009 Atlanta Flooding

Atlanta residents were caught off guard by the massive deluge that submerged the city in 2009, leading many observers to dub it as the “Once-in-500-Years Flood.” On the fifth anniversary of this catastrophe, Stanley Steemer, which repaired water damage in Atlanta homes and businesses following the flood, looks back on the fateful day and shares an important lesson learned from the experience.

The flood occurred on September 20, when, after eight days of constant rain, a torrential downpour caused unprecedented flooding to the city. With the staggering amount of run off, it wasn’t long before shallow creeks and streams swelled to twenty-foot walls of water. In a matter of hours, both commercial and residential properties were wet to the rafters with flood water.
